Low Level Laser therapy (LLLT) is the treatment of various conditions using laser to bring about a photochemical reaction at a cellular level. The laser light penetrates into tissue where it is absorbed by cells and converted into energy that influences the course of metabolic processes.

Here at Healtherapy we use the highly aclaimed LTU-904 which has been FDA approved in the USA and Australia for the treatment of Lymphoedema.  The LTU-904 is the ONLY laser device cleared by FDA for lymphoedema treatment.

We also use the state of the art Thor lasers for tissue healing, inflammation, pain relief and wounds. Plus acne and other skin conditions.

Below we detail the two laser systems we use, the LTU-904 for lymphoedema and fibrous skin conditions.

The LTU-904 models are infra-red lasers operating at a wavelength of 904 nanometers. This invisible wavelength penetrates deeply into tissue (much deeper than the often used red laser operating in the visible red region).

Advantages
Specific advantages of the LTU-904 laser therapy include:-

  • Painless and often immediate analgesic effect at the time of treatment.
  • Dramatically shortened recovery time with rapid reduction of swelling and inflammation
  • Non-invasive and patient friendly treatment
  • The LTU models are Class 1 lasers and therefore eye-safe for patients and clinicians.

Thor laser systems we use both Infra red probes for deep tissue and visible Red cluster probes for skin and wound healing.

Thor Laser and PHOTOMEDICINE

Laser and LED beams of light can stimulate the cells in the body that repair tissue, reduce inflammation and transmit pain. HOW LLLT / COLD LASER THERAPY WORKS

Light can stimulate or inhibit cellular function according to it’s intensity and the time applied.

Lasers and LED's produce intense beams of light at specific wavelengths. When the right wavelength at the right intensity is used at the correct anatomical location for the right amount of time you can stimulate repair, resolve inflammation and reduce pain.

One of the primary mechanisms is the effect of light on cytochrome c oxidase and the consequently the unbinding of nitric oxide and release of ATP leading to improved cellular function. For anti-inflammatory effects we have found a measurable reduction in PGE2, TNF Alpha and IL-6 in the synovia surrounding damaged tendons and for analgesia high intensity lasers over nerve supply can inhibit fast axonal flow.

In addition, high intensity single point lasers can release trigger points and treat acupuncture points instead of needles.
